Problems with window-shadows

You can use shadowed borders for your windows, if you use accellerated graficsdrivers (DRI).

The shadows are drawn by a program called xcompmgr (not by default in Puppy).
This program is known to have bugs.
Most likely, you will encounter "crazy" backgrounds, flimmering artifacts.

To solve that, try this:
install wmsetbg: http://dotpups.de/dotpups/WindowManagers/wmsetbg.pup
The Backgroundsetter uses it automatically, if a running xcompmgr is detected.

With wmsetbg, artifacts appear less often, but they still appear.
Often it helps, to set the background twice or 3 times.

Sometimes, this helps:
open only 3 windows (like 2 xterms and the backgroundsetter).
Move them so, that they cover the left area of your screen.
Then set the background 2-3 times.

This effect appears not with Rox 2.4, as it uses an own window as background, that covers the "buggy" rootwindow.

Rox-filer 2.x

To use this backgroundsetter with Rox 2.x, right-click a Rox icon --> Backdrop.

Now drag from a filer-window "/root/Choices/ROX-background.jpg" on the Backdrop.
This picture will be updated, every time you select a new one.
